In 1946 the compnay was founded initially as South West Air Transport, then renamed South West Airways.
In 1978 the name changes into Namib Air.
In 1982 the government acquires majority shareholding and elevates Namib Air as principal airline of SWA/Namibia
In 1990 the name changes into Air Namibia. They launch a twice weekly schedule between Frankfurt and Windhoek with a Boeing B747SP.
The Europe schedules are serviced by a B747-400 from 1999.
As from 2001 Air Namibia flies 4 times a week to Frankfurt.
This flight operates with an A340-300.
Cargo Destinations ex WDH:
Capetown (CPT), Durban (DUR), Gaberone (GBE), Johannesburg (JNB), Luanda (LAD), Lusaka (LUN), Port Elizabeth (PLZ), Upington (UTN) and Walvis Bay (WVB)
These destinations are served with a B737 or an A319.
